Letter from Robert Midkiff to Dr. W.E. Simonds

Title

Letter from Robert Midkiff to Dr. W.E. Simonds

Description

Knox student and soldier Robert Midkiff writes to Dr. Simonds: "I was very glad to receive your reply to my Christmas card, and to note in it that you would care to have any pictures that Knox men might have taken. Accordingly, I am enclosing a snap-shot taken a couple of weeks ago when five old Knox boys got together in front of the garden wall of the old Alamo and posed." He continues on to write, "Believe me, I am intending to work in another year in Knox after the war. That school looks better to me, the more I see of others. Regarding the history of Knox men in service which I am to write for Sigma Delta Chi, I am slowly getting started on it. I hope that I may make it worth-while. You probably have heard of the fall of Homer Sharpe at the Curtiss Field. He showed himself a real man when he was discharged from the service. If you see Lyman Thompson in Galesburg, while he is there on leave, seeing his family, have him give you the information as to Sharpe's case.... Please give my regards to Mrs. Simonds and the girls."
